Installation Process

Window Installation Process
The installation of new windows is just as important as the quality of the window itself. Even with a quality product, improper installation can contribute to air leakage, unnecessary heat loss, condensation and water infiltration. Our goal is to provide the “ultimate window replacement experience”.

Cut Back Phase
Depending on your home’s exterior, the siding or stucco is cut back two-inches to allow for the full removal of the entire old window including its nailing flange.

Window Removal
After the cut-back phase has been completed, installation crew members remove the existing window which will be disposed of by Homeworks.

Repairing Building Envelope
It’s important to repair the building envelope to ensure air-leakage and moisture issues do not occur after the new windows are installed. Crew members will repair any damage to home’s vapor barrier by securing building paper / peel n’ stick around the exterior building envelope.

Window Installation
Homeworks installs your new windows using a nailing flange or brick mold depending on customer selection. Installation procedures include: -secure window to opening, seal window to sheathing, adding a “drip” cap to any exposed window.

Insulating Inside
Any voids between the inside finishing and replacement window are filled with low-expansion foam (large gaps) and/or closed cell backing rods.

Sealing / Caulking
Installers ensure that adequate sealing and/or caulking is completed around your installed windows which provide premium protection from air leakage and moisture concerns.

Baby Trim
To ensure a premium finish and appearance on the inside, we install “baby trim” around the inside caulking of your window.

Clean Windows
Our final step in the installation process truly puts the “finishing touches” on your new windows. Our installers remove any plastic covering and complete a full cleaning of your new windows and frames.
