Energy Efficiency Ratings
Ratings:
- The energy efficiency of a gas and oil-fired furnace is measured using an AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) rating.
- This percentage will tell you how much fuel is used to heat your home and how much fuel is wanted.
- The measure of efficiency by which air conditioners and heat pumps are rated is SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio).
- The higher the AFUE or SEER rating, the greater the efficiency, and therefore greater energy savings.
- ENERGY STAR® rating: Residential gas furnaces must have an annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) rating of 90 or higher to qualify.
